No matter what loss we’ve experienced in the past each new loss brings a unique set of emotions and often a deeper awareness that the things we value and treasure most are not permanent. We have lost not only someone we love, but also a meaningful relationship, and somehow in ways we do not understand, we have lost a part of ourselves. This is not an easy time, we are never ready or prepared for death; no one ever taught us how to grieve.
Your grief will be unique to you and as different as the relationship you lost was from all other relationships. No one else can define your grief.
We all need some help and support to move through our grief. Please consider a grief support group or individual counseling if you are feeling overwhelmed. It’s a difficult journey but there is help.
